Biography

Cody has represented clients from the pleadings stage through presenting oral argument before a court of last resort. He has appeared before the U.S. Supreme Court and the Supreme Court of Texas, as well as multiple federal circuit courts of appeals, Texas courts of appeals, federal district courts, and state trial courts.

During his time as an Assistant Solicitor General in the Office of the Solicitor General of Texas, Cody drafted dozens of appellate briefs and presented oral argument before the Supreme Court of Texas, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the Texas Court of Appeals for the Third Judicial District. He served as lead appellate counsel in cases involving a broad array of subject matters, including constitutional law, administrative law, utilities law, employment law, federal habeas corpus law, immigration law, family law, statutory interpretation, and civil procedure. During his time as an associate with Yetter Coleman LLP, Cody worked on complex trial and appellate matters involving issues in oil and gas law, contract law, products liability, and civil procedure.

Cody graduated cum laude from Harvard Law School, where he served as an Executive Editor of the Harvard Law Review. After law school, he clerked for the Honorable W. Keith Watkins on the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Alabama and the Honorable Ed E. Carnes of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
